D'Funk Mag Evaluation

Magazine Evaluation

My Magazine cover is not like a typical magazine cover or genre. My group chose an different style of an music genre, we chose a Funky House genre. The reason we didn't want to be like every other music magazine out there we wanted to stand out and catch the readers attentions and make them want to read our magazine. We choose very bright vibrant colours as a way to indicate the funky theme.

The layout of my magazine is like a typical magazine layout just with a bit more funkier style, it has the normal conventions of a magazine such as the masthead, main image, bar code, price, month issue, freebie, cover lines our magazine also has a slogan and a strap line. The colour of my magazine using a range of neon colours to catch the readers attention. D'funk also offers the promotion of a free funky CD to make the reader want to buy the magazine to get the CD. Our magazine throughout the issues uses the same fonts but have a different theme and layout.

D'funk audiences is for people who just enjoy funky house music and would want to read about all the new upcoming tunes and the new artist. But if i had to give my magazine a particular age i would say for teens 16+, who want to go out to the latest funky raves and have a good time and also no what the latest funky outfits our about.

We attracted our audience to our magazine ; by our unique name D'FUNK,also by our bright colours, the cover star was just your ordinary girl in a funky type of fashion she had on a mixed of colours such as green, blue, pink, yellow, zebra print and white. The content of my magazine consist of meeting the new funky group, an interview with a funky DJ also a range of the funky shoes that we have in stall for this season. The language we used was informal language as we was trying to catch readers of our age group. We also attracted the audience as there is not another funky house magazine on the scene. The name of our magazine D'Funk is unique and this is slang and appeals more to our audience because they are young and are used to this type of writing. But the D'Funk stands for The Funk symbolises The Funky magazine.

My music magazine cover doesn't represent a typical social group but it represent anyone who really likes funky music and is up for having party's and going out and enjoying the funky scene. I choose a girl of around 16 to do the front cover. She is doing a funny face and has her tongue poked out as she turned to the camera. She also have a hand on her hips This shot is a long short as it gets the main image in plus the rest of her outside background. She has on a range of colours indicating that she has a good sense for funky fashion and likes to be outrageous and try different things and experiment like we did with our magazine. The location of this picture is outside in the street, it is not in typical funky background, just on a normal day with normal surroundings but her outfit stands out.

During my making of the magazine i have learnt how to use the Apple Mac to a good standard, this made it more relaxing for me to make the magazine as it was easy to use. This meant that i could be able to do more work and enjoy want i was doing. I also learnt how to use photo shop on the Macs at first i found it a bit difficult but with help from my group members i was able to make a good front cover for my magazine. I was able to use a range of skills such as using all different fonts, cropping and adding in pictures. Also being able to experiment with many things on the photo shop and see if was good for my magazine. After i had don't this i was able to relax and help other members in my group with working with photo shop.

If i was to create another magazine front cover, i would do a lot more planning for my magazine and establish what i particular wanted to go on my front cover to make it unique and stand out. I would also do more research into the funky house genre so i could have a lot more things to put on the front of my magazine to attract my readers. I would maybe change the photograph to give my magazine a different sort of meaning. Funky house was a particular hard genre to work with, so i might of change the genre but i liked the challenge so to me it was a good genre and our magazine wasn't like the rest it stood out, it was unique.

Out of the whole experiences, i enjoyed the making of our D'Funk magazine it was a great experience and i learnt a lot of new techniques.
